Ashleigh Barty played only 11 matches in 2022, but that was enough for her to finish in the Top 10 in terms of prize money earnings on the WTA Tour.
The 26-year-old Australian started her season with victory in Adelaide, and she then also added her third Grand Slam title at the 2022 Australian Open. En route to these two trophies, Barty lost only one set when Coco Gauff won the first set of the season against the Australian in Adelaide.
Since then, the former WTA World No. 1 player has been on a 22-set winning streak, beating the likes of Sofia Kenin, Iga Swiatek, Elena Rybakina, and Madison Keys on her way to the two titles.
Those two wins granted Barty $2,271,220 in prize money. On top of that, she earned $18,100 for her doubles win in Adelaide. In total, the Australian player earned $2,289,320 in 2022, and that was enough for a to rank in the Top 10 in terms of prize money.
Iga Swiatek was by far the best player in 2022, and prize money standings show it. The young Pole earned $9,875,525, and no one got anywhere close to her as she was the only player to earn more than $5 million.
The second player in terms of earnings is Ons Jabeur, who collected $4,977,069. Caroline Garcia was third on the list thanks to her win at the WTA Finals, but also the fact that she competes in doubles as well. The Frenchwoman earned $3,729,317 in 2022.
Barty's $2,289,320 was enough to place ninth despite playing only 11 matches and finishing her career in March. This feat only proves how sensational the Australian player really was when she competed.
Despite many fans wanting her to come back, Barty provided a clear answer during a recent interview, saying a comeback is not an option for her.
