Emma Raducanu recently broke into the Top 10 of the WTA Rankings for the first time in her career but her stay there may be very short.
Soon, Emma Raducanu will defend 2000 points from her US Open triumph last year. But before the, the teenager has a chance to add as many points as possible at events leading up to the fourth Grand Slam of the season.
However, she couldn't do that at the WTA 1000 event in Toronto and so there are 7 players that can push her out of the Top 10 of the WTA Rankings, but 5 are closing than the other two. Karolina Pliskova and Jul Teichmann will need to win the event if they want to surpass the British sensation.
Belinda Bencic, Coco Gauff, Leylah Fernandez, Simona Halep and Jelena Ostapenko are much closer. The Swiss player who is currently ranked 12th, needs only 2 more wins and she will get more points than Raducanu. Gauff and Fernandez will need to reach semifinals of the tournament.
And Halep and Ostapenko will need a final appearance. Yet, Raducanu still has a real chance of staying in Top 10 and adding more points at another WTA 1000 event in Cincinnati and prolonging her stay in the Top 10.
