From June 19th to 25th the 2023 Berlin Open, WTA 500 tournament, will welcome the best of the best.
There are only a few grass-court tournaments leading up to the third Grand Slam of the season. Therefore, it's not a surprise that almost all of the best players signed up for the 2023 Berlin Open, one of only two WTA 500 tournaments.
In 2022, Ons Jabeur won the title and the Tunisian is back in Berlin to defend her title after previously rushing her comeback. In the first round of the 2023 Berlin Open, the fourth seed will start against one of the qualifiers.
But already in the second round, she can meet a difficult opponent as the 2019 Roland Garros finalist, Marketa Vondrousova, and the 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu are set to meet in the first round of the tournament.
The top seed in the German capital is Aryna Sabalenka. The Belarusian will start against one of the qualifiers, with a possible second-round match against Veronika Kudermetova or Qinwen Zheng.
Coco Gauff will also participate in Berlin with the young American starting against fellow competitor for the World No. 1 spot in doubles, Katerina Siniakova. On the other side of the draw, the second-seeded Elena Rybakina will also start her journey against one of the qualifiers.
