The
WTA season for 2025 is officially complete. Hundreds of highly
skilled women captivated fans across the globe through their tennis.
The courts across the globe saw thunderous forehands,
meticulous backhands, bounce off the racket strings of these talented bunch of power
hitters.
The relentless rallies kept the fans on the edge, however, those
battling on the court would have preferred to close out matches feeling less
tired. One way to avoid the intensive labour was preventing the opponent from
touching the ball to begin with—by hitting aces.
Though all women deserve credit for their efforts in the
season gone by, let’s list five WTA players who produced most aces on their
serves for the time being.
5. Naomi Osaka
Naomi Osaka takes the fifth place in the list of top WTA ace hitters
for 2025 as she hit 307 aces on the tour.
Osaka gained confidence with every match she played in the
season, approaching her pre-pregnancy level. On the tour, she couldn’t convert
her struggle into a title but improved her ranking from World No 50 to 16. She reached
the semifinals of the US Open and finals of the Canadian Open and
ASB Classic (retired after winning the first set).
4. Ekaterina Alexandrova
Ekaterina Alexandrova produced 339 aces to come fourth on the
list. The Russian triumphed at the Linz Open in February for her solitary title
of the season.
Alexandrova reached the fourth round of every Grand Slam
except the Australian Open, where she couldn’t win a match. In a big achievement,
she finally entered the WTA Top 10 this season after three years operating between
ranks 15 and 20.
3. Clara Tauson
Clara Tauson hit 358 aces down her opponent’s courts to
become the third-best ace hitter for 2025. She overcame Naomi Osaka in the Auckland
final to start the year with a trophy.
Tauson began the season as the World No. 41 and inched closer
to top 10, ending the year as the World No. 12. At the Majors, she did best in
Wimbledon by reaching the last 16. In Melbourne and Paris, she remained afloat
till the Round of 32 but didn’t register a win in New York.
2. Linda Noskova
Linda Noskova finished the season one spot behind Tauson in
the WTA rankings, but she overtook her to rank second in this list, recording 373
aces.
Noskova couldn’t put together a title-winning run this year,
exiting the Australian Open and French Open in the first round. She showed
promise at SW19 by making it to the fourth round and lost in the third at the
US Open.
1. Elena Rybakina
Elena Rybakina separated herself from the group as she became
the only women to hit more than 500 aces this year. She fired 516 aces and tops
the list for the top five ace hitters on the WTA tour.
The 6’0” Kazakh captured three trophies, at the WTA Finals,
Ningbo Open and Internationaux de Strasbourg. At the Grand Slams, Rybakina reached
the fourth round at Melbourne Park, Roland-Garros and Flushing Meadows. At
Wimbledon, she lost in the third round.
