Carlos Alcaraz and
Novak Djokovic are huge personalities not only in the tennis world but also in sports in general, which is one of the reasons they were the ones presenting trophies this weekend.
Alcaraz and Djokovic had completely different 2025 seasons, but they chose similar off-season activities. The Spaniard lost his final match at the
ATP Finals to Jannik Sinner, and even though Djokovic finished the season with a win, lifting the Athens Open title, he chose not to compete at the year-end championship.
Unlike other sports, tennis has a very short off-season. Some players might have only one month to rest, recover, and prepare for the next season. This year, players have up to six weeks after
frequent calls for making the calendar shorter.
With more time during the off-season, tennis players can focus more on the pleasures of life. The best of the best, like Alcaraz and Djokovic, are well-known in the world of sports as well, which is why they were chosen to present trophies this weekend.
Although the trophy presentation was the thing they shared, it was the only thing, as both were on completely different continents, presenting trophies for completely different sports.
Djokovic became a global ambassador for Qatar Airways in 2024, and since then, he has appeared at the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix multiple times. Last year, he was seen in the garage of the McLaren F1 Team, and this year, he was the one presenting trophies to the first three finishers in the Qatar Grand Prix's sprint race.
McLaren's Oscar Piastri won the sprint race ahead of Mercedes' George Russell, with Lando Norris taking third place. After the race, Djokovic waited for them to hand them trophies for the sprint race, which was an important race for the World Drivers' Championship standings, with only a few points separating the top three.
Alcaraz, on the other hand, was seen presenting a trophy at the Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States. Alcaraz is a huge football (soccer) fan, supporting Real Madrid Club de Fútbol.
This time, he was presenting a trophy to the man who caused many nightmares for the Real Madrid fans over the years. Lionel Messi's Inter Miami won the Eastern Conference finals in the Major League Soccer (MLS) after beating New York City FC. Alcaraz was the one giving the trophy to Messi and his team.
Inter Miami will now focus on its match against Vancouver Whitecaps FC. If they manage to beat the Whitecaps, they will lift their maiden MLS Cup.
