Ksenia Efremova was born in Moscow, Russia on April 29, 2009. Her mother is former WTA professional Julia Efremova and her father Alexey Efremov was an amateur player. Efremova has played tennis from the age of three and Julia coached her in childhood.
In 2019, Efremova, her mother, and two brothers moved from Moscow to Alpes-Maritimes, near Nice in France. Soon after her emigration, Efremova started training at the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy. Efremova gained French naturalization in late 2023 and has since played in the WTA under the French flag.
Throughout her junior career, Efremova regularly played in older-age events due to her strong ability. For instance, she played in under-14 competitions at 11 and won five titles on the ITF Juniors under-18 circuit in 2022.
In 2023, the French player progressed at the junior level, winning several titles. Before her 14th birthday, she won the Tim Essonne competition. Late in the 2023 season, Efremova also won two Tennis Europe Super Category events. Efremova started to compete in professional-level events later in 2023.
In December 2023, the French player won her first-ever ITF level title at Monastir after she defeated Selina Dal in the final. Efremova was aged 14, 8 months, and 3 days when she won her first title in Monastir. Due to a progressive 2023 campaign, Efremova was ranked 1105th in the WTA Rankings at the beginning of 2024 - her first climb onto the official rankings.
As a result, she received a wildcard entry for her Junior Grand Slam debut at the Australian Open. Efremova progressed through the first three rounds with ease and didn’t drop a set. However, she was eventually eliminated at the quarter-final stage, losing against Slovakian player Renata Jamrichova.
