World No. 9 Alexander Zverev is one of a handful of sports stars who recently bought a minority stake in the Alpine Formula One team.

Fuelled by his passion for motor racing and presumably with an eye to diversify his investment portfolio, Zverev has become a shareholder for the French automotive company along with footballers Juan Mata and Trent Alexander-Arnold, golfer Rory McIlroy and boxer Anthony Joshua.

The five of them will join as part of the syndicate established by Otro Capital Group which has a 24% stake and that includes Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney, and Michael B. Jordan (not the retired NBA legend).

Zverev's value as a co-investor in Alpine has not been revealed, and he bought an equity stake through Apex, a venture capital firm based in Portugal, which aims to invest in sports and entertainment sectors, and which had an agreement with Otro Capital to bring the aforementioned sports names into Alpine's shareholding team.

"Hey guys, I'm Alexander Zverev and I'm super excited to announce that I'm part of the Alpine Formula One team as a shareholder. I've been a fan of F1 for a very, very long time and I'm super excited for what the future holds for this team."
- Zverev in a post on his Instagram account

Zverev has earned over $36 million in prize money since turning professional in 2013, ranking in the Top 10 in the career prize money list. Still only 26, the German is only just entering his peak years and is always a contender at some of the biggest tennis tournaments.

In 2023, he's had to fight his way into the upper echelons of the sport after recovering from a horrific ankle injury at last year's Roland Garros. And Zverev is on the cusp of attaining his season's objectives. He has returned to the world's Top 10 and remains in the hunt for a place at the ATP Finals (currently sits in 7th spot).
