Rafael Nadal played more matches against Djokovic than Federer but he considers the latter his greatest rival.

A stunning rivalry was sparked when a Spanish super talent first emerged not long after Federer began to rule tennis. It developed over time into a solid friendship, which was recently shown at the Laver Cup. During the ceremony where Roger Federer announced his retirement, Nadal cried just as much, if not more, than Federer.

Djokovic calls him his greatest rival but for Nadal, it's always been, Federer. He talked about it in Buenos Aires:

"Even if it's true that I have played more times against Djokovic, when you have a rival like Federer and you start playing against him it's different."

"Because we have different game styles and personalities. We shared so many moments together on and off the court. I admired him so much. He is such an important personality for the sport," continued Nadal adding that a part of him left with Federer that night:

"When he retired, a part of my life has left with him."
