Rafael Nadal is one of the greatest tennis players in history, but it's no secret that he is an avid football fan, and football is probably one of the sports he would pursue if he were not a tennis player.
It's a well-known fact that he is a massive Real Madrid supporter and watches most of their games when he is not competing on the ATP Tour. Luckily for him, he will get to watch his beloved club in the UEFA Champions League final.
This biggest match in club football will take place at the Stade de France in Paris on Saturday. Spanish giants Real Madrid will battle English Premier League side Liverpool in the final. Incidentally, the match is taking place in the same city that is playing host to the French Open.
And Nadal, who has a day off on Saturday, is fortunate that the schedule has worked out in such a way that he can be free to attend the match in person inside the stadium.
The kick-off of the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool was delayed by about 35 minutes because of security reasons, and some fans struggled to get into the stadium. But it appears that the 2022 Roland Garros title challenger, Nadal, will enjoy a great night supporting his team in the French capital.
Previously, he celebrated Real Madrid's title in the Spanish league and now he will hope to see his team win also in the Champions League. Prior to the tournament, the Spaniard didn't want to say much about his participation at the event, when he said: "I am here to play Roland Garros...but I have my tickets ready."
On Friday, he defeated Botic van de Zandschulp in straight sets to reach the second week. He is bidding to win his 14th Roland Garros title.
"I didn’t see Zidane but I know he was there because I was listening the crowd naming him all the time. If I’ll go to watch the Champions League Final? Let’s see how I wake up tomorrow and if nothing happens my intention is to be there."
