Holger Rune won the 2022 Munich Open, also called the BMW Open, and after his triumph, he enjoyed a ride in his brand-new BMW.

Some ATP and WTA tournaments are sponsored by a car manufacturer, such as the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, a WTA event held in Stuttgart, or the BMW Munich Open, held in another German city.

Players who win these tournaments not only receive prize money, points, and a trophy but also usually a brand new car from the tournament's sponsor.

Rune had a great week at the Munich Open, where he didn't drop a set and overcame first-seeded Alexander Zverev, but he was also forced to withdraw from the 2022 Madrid Open because of the scheduling conflict with the ATP 250 tournament in Munich.

In the German city, the young Dane got off to a strong start with a 7-6(4), 6-3 victory over Jiri Lehecka. He bested Zverev in the second round, and he also overcame fellow teenager Emil Ruusuvuori.

In the semi-finals, the young Dane outplayed Oscar Otte in two sets, 6-4, 6-4, before taking on Botic van de Zandschulp in the final of the competition. Expecting a challenging final, Rune didn't have to even complete one set, as his opponent retired when leading 4-3 in the opening set.

After lifting his first ATP trophy, Rune also enjoyed a ride on a tennis court in his brand-new BMW. Funnily enough, he enjoyed the ride still only as a passenger, but Rune will be looking to test his car as soon as he gets to use it on the road.

More importantly, he will want to use the progress made also in the ATP Rankings thanks to his run in Munich to springboard himself further and gain more direct entries into Tour-level tournaments, such as the ATP Masters 1000 event in Madrid.
