Roger Federer lacked sparring partners during a recent casual practice, but that didn't stop him from using a wall to showcase his tennis skills.
Federer is one of the sport's greatest players. He won 103 career titles, including 20 Grand Slams (third in the all-time list). In fact, he led the Grand Slam titles record on the ATP Tour for over a decade.
Despite his official retirement almost two years ago, the former World No. 1 hasn't forgotten how to wield a tennis racket. In a recent video he shared on his Instagram stories, Federer is seen hitting against the wall within a private tennis court.
In the short video, Federer exhibited almost his entire tennis repertoire and shotmaking abilities. His movement was also as smooth as ever despite undergoing multiple knee surgeries.
With his on-court success, off-court persona, and charisma, he has built a brand as one of the most marketable athletes in the world. According to Forbes, Federer ranked ninth in last year's list of the richest sportspeople in the world even though he retired from tennis in 2022.
But retirement hasn't stopped Federer from being involved in the sport, albeit in a part-time capacity. The Swiss great is still contracted to Japanese apparel manufacturer Uniqlo and occasionally travels to Asia and the United States to honor his role as the global ambassador.
Federer is also a shareholder of Swiss sportswear company On and has been a key strategist in developing a performance-enhanced shoe meant to serve tennis players like Iga Swiatek and Ben Shelton, whom it sponsors.
The 42-year-old is one the co-founders of the Laver Cup, which is a tennis tournament pooling ATP players in competition between themselves and split into two teams, with one half representing Team Europe and the other Team World. It is staged annually and in different locations.
Federer is no longer taking an active playing role in the tournament but has mentioned that he would be open to the idea of serving as team captain in the future.
