Stefanos Tsitsipas is generally known as a rather consistent player who wins a lot of matches but he hasn't been winning a lot of trophies recently.
Stefanos Tsitsipas recently celebrated 200 weeks in the top 10 highlighting his consistency. And yes, the Greek player is very consistent as he posted a very good winning season in all of the previous years. He won 60 matches in 2019, 41 in 2020, 55 in 2021 and 64 last year.
He's on pace for another 60-win season with 32 wins so far but one thing noticeably absent are trophies. He's got ATP 9 trophies so far in his career in 17 finals which isn't great, especially for such a good player but many of his finals simply came against better players. He has two this year and he lost both.
The Australian Open final against Djokovic and the Barcelona Open final against Alcaraz. It's unfortunate for him because by not winning a trophy this year Tsitsipas made himself the only player ranked in the top 10 to not have won a trophy in the past 52 weeks which equates to a year.
It's an interesting stat for the Greek player whose last five finals have all been losing efforts. He played in 7 finals last year winning two of those and losing five of them. The last trophy he won came last year in Mallorca, an event where he will play this year as well after getting a wild card entry recently.
The other one was the Monte-Carlo Masters which he won by beating Davidovich Fokina in the final. The loses? Rotterdam to Auger-Aliassime, Cincinnati to Borna Coric, Astana to Djokovic and Stockholm to Rune.
By not winning a trophy over the past 52 months, the Greek is the only player in the Top 10 not to achieve this, with every other Top 10 member having also won at least one title not just over the past 52 weeks, but also in 2023.
