Novak Djokovic officially announced his withdrawal from the 2022 US Open, as he's unable to enter the United States.

The 2022 season has been a weird one for the Serbian player. In 2021, he came one match away from completing the Calendar Grand Slam, which is one of the rarest achievements in tennis. That showed how dominant Djokovic was in 2022.

Unfortunately, he wasn't able to repeat that same dominance in 2022. The reason wasn't his bad play, but instead, his inability to enter some countries, which prevented him from competing at major tournaments.

It all started already at the start of the season when he was deported from Australia ahead of the Australian Open. Djokovic then also couldn't compete at the Indian Wells Open and the Miami Open.

After that, the Serbian player won Wimbledon, lifting his 21st Grand Slam title, but the last months of the season turned into a waiting game again. He awaited good news from the United States, as he wanted to play in New York, but simply couldn't enter the country.

First, Djokovic missed the Cincinnati Masters and the Canadian Open, and after weeks of waiting, he now confirmed that he wouldn't be able to participate at the US Open either.

Djokovic confirmed his withdrawal with a post on social media. He thanked his fans for their continuous support, as many of them will certainly be disappointed by not being able to see their favorite player in the United States this year.

"Sadly, I will not be able to travel to NY this time for the US Open. Thank you, #NoleFam, for your messages of love and support. Good luck to my fellow players! I’ll stay in good shape and positive spirit, and wait for an opportunity to compete again. See you soon, tennis world!"
