A contemporary art statue moulded from Roger Federer's body has been sold for just over 320,000 Swiss francs.

Earlier in 2023, Federer and the statue's Swiss-born artist, Ugo Rondinone. revealed that the former ATP star had his body parts moulded in silicone, which was then used to form the statue. During the figure's creation, Federer was suspended in mid-air at the Venice Biennale Museum in Venice, Italy.

The art piece has been on display at the Venice Biennale Museum since late 2022 and visitors were initially unaware that the statue, previously named 'Cloud Six', was moulded on Federer's body. As the pieces' time at the museum has come to an end, a buyer emerged for the statue and they have purchased it for around 320,000 Francs, according to Swiss news outlet, RTSinfo.

"Roger Federer has lent his body, and a little of his modesty, to contemporary Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone. The statue sold for just over 320,000 francs at Art Basel."

Federer has been a long-term admirer of art pieces and taking part in creating the artwork would have been a new and innovative experience for the former ATP world number one. Since he retired in 2022, Federer has focussed on business and personal ventures away from tennis, including investing in the Swiss shoe brand 'On' and participating in events and visits for his charity, the Roger Federer Foundation.

The 41-year-old enjoyed a star-studded ATP career that lasted for over two decades between 1998 and 2022. During this time, the Swiss former player won 20 Grand Slams including eight at Wimbledon, six in the Australian Open, five US Opens, and one at Roland Garros.

Eventually, the 41-year-old brought down the curtain on his impressive ATP career with an appearance alongside Rafael Nadal at the 2022 Laver Cup for Team Europe in London.
