Paire Slams ATP Over Poor Quality Streaming of Challenger Events

by Alex Waite

Benoit Paire took to social media to vent his anger towards the ATP over slow streaming and buffering streams of Challenger events.

Paire has already started his 2024 campaign at the Challenger level, and he reached the quarter-final of the Open Nouvelle-Calédonie. However, the French player was eventually eliminated from the competition after losing in straight sets to his compatriot Arthur Cazaux.

Before his last eight match against Cazaux, Paire raised some concerns with the ATP, but they weren't related to on-court issues.

Instead, the 34-year-old hit out at the ATP on his official X channel for streaming issues of the Challenger events, especially as the former world number 18 had fans and supporters watching.

"@atptour if you can fix the streaming problem on the ATP site for challengers!!!! It starts from the beginning every time and there are only bugs!! There are people following us!!!! THANK YOU."

As part of its online service, the ATP official website offers free live streaming of all Challenger level matches and events throughout the season. Matches are available to watch online or through the app.

However, Paire's recent outburst over the quality of streaming could lead to question marks about the ATP's dedication to providing a decent level of service for Challenger events.

Paire is currently ranked 117th in the official ATP rankings after a challenging 2023 season. The former world number 18 couldn't progress past the qualifying rounds at three of the four Grand Slam tournaments and was eliminated in the first round at the Roland Garros.

In addition, the 34-year-old's conduct was questioned numerous times late in the 2023 campaign. Fans called out the French player's effort during a Challenger match against Pedro Martinez in October, where he appeared uninterested and unwilling to give his best during the contest, which he eventually retired from.
