Carlos Alcaraz dropped just two games in his quarter-final against Karen Khachanov at the 2022 Hamburg Open.
The young Spanish sensation just keeps on impressing the tennis world. With his latest exploit taking down the intimidating Russian Khachanov, the tennis world has really taken note of the supposed ease with which he is able to see off this caliber of opponents.
In their quarter-final match-up, the man from Murcia allowed the Russian to claim just two games across the whole encounter, with the score ending 6-0, 6-2.
Finishing the match in just over one hour gives Alcaraz the perfect preparation for the semi-final, where he will face Alex Molcan. The only seeded player left in the draw, Alcaraz, will fancy his chances against not only Molcan but also in the rest of the tournament.
Speaking after his match, the Spaniard was notably pleased with his performance, explaining how it was one of his best yet.
"I played unbelievable today, probably one of my best matches this year, I'm pretty happy with the performance that I'm playing in this tournament. Yesterday was amazing as well. I'm training every day to be solid and at the same time to be aggressive. That is my game."
Looking ahead to the final four stage, he was focused on beating the result of his coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, who lost in the final of the 2001 edition of the event.
"I will try to do my best in the semi-finals to be able to do the same result as Juan Carlos, and of course trying to fight into the final. Of course to beat Juan Carlos, to try to win this tournament means a lot. If I win this tournament, I will make jokes to him that I am better than him. It would be amazing."
