Novak Djokovic will start his Australian Open title defense against talented teenager Dino Prizmic, who came through the qualifying.
Dino Prizmic did extremely well to win three matches and find himself in the main draw of the Australian Open, but he won't be too happy by drawing Djokovic. Maybe he will. Who really knows?
What is known is that it's not going to be easy because the Rod Laver Arena might be the toughest court to play Novak Djokovic on. By winning the 2023 edition of the event, Djokovic is up to 10 Australian Opens, which is obviously the most in history.
Nobody has been as good as the Serbian on these courts. Prizmic will try his best, but it's going to be really tough.
Head-to-head:
Djokovic and Prizmic never played against each other because the Croatian is a young player who is only coming up. He did play really well in the qualifiers, beating the likes of Mariano Navone, Duje Ajdukovic, and Aziz Dougaz.
Novak Djokovic | Dino Prižmić | |

36 | Age | 18 |
2-1 | 2024 W/L | 4-1 |

None of them are on the level of Djokovic or Stefanos Tsitsipas, whom the Serbian bested in his most recent warm-up event. Djokovic, for the most part, has played well at the United Cup. It's just that the injury kind of overshadowed all of that.
Prediction:
The main storyline in this match will be how Djokovic handles the match in relation to his wrist. The match against Tsitsipas showed us a comfortable Djokovic, so it shouldn't be a huge issue. The vast experience and the intimidation factor will be huge for the Serbian because Prizmic should be quickly overwhelmed.
It will probably take a few games, but once the Serbian figures out how to play his opponent, the match should turn in his favour, so back Djokovic for an easy win.
Prediction: Novak Djokovic to win in three sets.
