After not getting 2000 points for winning this year's Wimbledon and not competing at the US Open, Novak Djokovic dropped to the 7th place in the ATP Rankings.
That's maybe also one of the reasons why the 21-time Grand Slam champion signed up for a quite unusual event, 2022 Tel Aviv Open. The event will be held in Israel and Novak Djokovic will compete in both singles and doubles at the event.
The Serbian will be the highest-seeded player in the singles draw and a big favourite to win the tournament. In the doubles draw, he will team up with the only player he ever lifted a doubles trophy with, Jonathan Erlich.
Back in 2010, Novak Djokovic and Jonathan Erlich teamed up in Queen's Club and won a title after defeating Karol Beck and David Skoch in the final. 12 years later, they can add another title as the Israeli player is ending his career in his home country.
The 2008 Australian Open doubles champion and former world number 5 will therefore team up with his old friend and 21-time singles Grand Slam champion, Novak Djokovic to enjoy his farewell at the 2022 Tel Aviv Open.
"Novak Djokovic has confirmed he'll play doubles next week in Tel Aviv alongside Jonathan Erlich to revive the partnership that delivered Novak Djokovic's only doubles title: Queens 2010. It's being billed as the "Last Dance" for Jonathan Erlich, 45, Israel's Davis Cup playing captain," tweet of journalist Marc Stein reads.
