Novak Djokovic Finishes 2023 Season With Most Top 10 Wins On ATP Tour

Novak Djokovic tallied the highest number of Top 10 wins on the ATP Tour in 2023, in spite of playing just 12 ATP events.

Djokovic defeated Top 10 players on 17 occasions this season, at least four clear of the next-best in this department, who happens to be our 2023 ATP Most Improved Player, Jannik Sinner (13). The Serbian played 21 matches against the Top 10 and only lost four times.

Aside from Djokovic and Sinner, the other two players who managed double-digit match wins against the Top 10 are Carlos Alcaraz (11) and Daniil Medvedev (12). The Russian World No. 3 emerged as the most productive, winning the most matches this season (66).

Remarkably, Djokovic managed to face each player in the year-end Top 10 at least once during the season and picked up at least one win against each one of them. He finished the campaign with the highest winning % of any player on tour with 88.9%.

Overall, Djokovic owns the record for the most Top 10 wins on the ATP Tour in a single season with 31, which he achieved back in 2015. In addition to the highest number of Top 10 wins, Djokovic won the most titles with seven in 2023 including three Grand Slams.

He is the first man to win three of the four Grand Slams in a single season on four occasions and extended his reign for the most weeks at No. 1 with 400. Even on the backdrop of such irresistible numbers, Djokovic ranked the 2011 and 2015 seasons as being better than this one.

He compiled a 56-6 record in 2023 and finished the year as World No. 1 for an unprecedented eighth year. Djokovic signed off the season at the Davis Cup in Malaga where he took Serbia to the semifinal but lost agonizingly to a Jannik Sinner-inspired Italy team.
