Following his win over Andy Murray at the 2022 Cincinnati Masters, Cameron Norrie explained what sort of inspiration he takes from Novak Djokovic.
The ATP World No. 10 player won his second-round match against Andy Murray at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati, and after the win, Norrie sat down with Tennis Channel.
During the interview, the British player spoke also about Novak Djokovic. Norrie had a chance to witness the Serbian's qualities when he lost to him in the semi-finals of this year's Wimbledon.
He also got a chance to observe the 21-time major winner on the ATP Tour, and some things he's seen from Djokovic inspired Norrie. Especially the Serbian's attention to detail.
"I've seen him bringing his own food to events in little Tupperware things. That is even more meticulous than bringing your scale with you. I would like to think that he is doing the same and the same method to take care of little details like that."
Although Norrie was able to beat his compatriot Murray, he certainly wasn't very happy with how he won. Murray struggled with cramps during the match, which made it easier for Norrie to win. After the match, he admitted that he also struggled with conditions in Cincinnati.
"I am still struggling with the conditions a litte bit and trying to find rhythm. I just got through with my attitude and stayed positive. I managed to find myself at one set all, I don't know how and the last set was a battle, he had some chances and I played a couple of good points."
"That's how it rolls sometimes in tennis. It's a massive win for me beating Andy for the first time. It's not the way I wanted to beat him with him cramping, but it's nice to get through."
