Carlos Moya, long-time coach of Rafael Nadal, has said that he believes Novak Djokovic is now the favorite for the ATP Finals in Turin in what would be the Serb's record-equalling sixth title.

Nadal is out of this year's ATP Finals, having lost his opening two group matches, while Djokovic is set to qualify as the group winner with a game to spare after two dominant opening wins.

Former Spanish World No. 1 Moya, who is also a Davis Cup champion and French Open titlist, reflected on Nadal's end to the season in a recent interview with Marca and gave his verdict on who is now the favorite for the title.

"I think that Djokovic from what I have seen is the one who is playing the best, but anything can happen. At the moment, he is the one that I see a little above the others."

Moya also spoke about Nadal. He admitted that it wasn't a tournament that the Spaniard's team expected to have.

"Ending up winning is not bad even though it was known that nothing was at stake. Rafa has shown his face and has played the best game of the week. He has gone from less to more throughout the week. At certain times when he could things have changed, with the 'break' points... It has not been the tournament we expected."

Moya went on to reveal that although preparations for the ATP Finals had been good, implementing the game plan on the match court had proved difficult after a very interrupted second half to the season.

"Yes, it has cost him in the matches and it is something that is not usual for him. We arrived last Tuesday and he has made sets and the game had been good and well adapted to what the surface is. Putting it into practice in the matches is which has cost him a little more."
