In a thrilling final match at the 2023 Qatar Open, Daniil Medvedev defeated the Andy Murray to clinch his second consecutive title.

The 27-year-old won the Rotterdam Open just last week and he came to Doha in great form. It was a clash of two titans of the tennis world, with Murray proving to be a formidable opponent despite the long matches he had to play to get into the final.

The match got off to a tense start, with Medvedev getting the first break of the match. He added another in the fifth game and led already 4-1. Murray managed to re-break once, but that wasn't enough to stop Medvedev who won the first set 6-4.

In the second set, the Russian started with a break again and he soon led 3-1. Murray, who has a loyal fan following, refused to go down without a fight and soon broke back to level the score at 3-3.

The next few games saw some intense rallies and brilliant shot-making from both players, but it was Medvedev who emerged victorious, breaking Murray's serve once again in the ninth game to take a crucial 5-4 lead. He then served out the set, taking it 6-4.

After an hour and 47 minutes, Medvedev won 6-4, 6-4 to win his second consecutive title and move to the eighth place of the ATP Rankings.

Despite the loss, Murray's fans were thrilled with his performance throughout the tournament, especially considering the fact that he had come back from multiple matches that seemed lost.
