Novak Djokovic was shaking after the conclusion of the second set against Medvedev in Turin, but he played down worries.
Djokovic said it was an exhausting moment that left him feeling really worn out. It followed a chaotic second-set tiebreak in which Djokovic committed a few errors and lost it 7-5. He was briefly seen shaking during the break as he was attempting to catch his breath.
It left many on social media wondering what is going on with Djokovic as he generally doesn't look so winded during matches.
“Well, it was just fatigue from a grueling battle. That’s all I can say," - said Djokovic after the match. "I mean, there was no illness. Everyone has one of those days where they struggle more physically. For me that was today."
Due to the fact that Medvedev keeps the ball in play and frequently makes you move first, playing him is highly physically taxing. There were undoubtedly times when Djokovic's impatience got the better of him and he made mistakes that should have been prevented.
“Of course, the opponent likes seeing you down, and he’s trying to dominate in the rallies, he’s trying to get the upper hand of the match, which was kind of the situation that was happening today," added Djokovic.
