John McEnroe's iconic MacAttack sneakers are set to re-launch later this year after Nike decided to bring back the popular label.

In a star-studded re-launch campaign, Nike has pulled out all the stops across several channels to get fans excited about the MacAttack label. NBA player PJ Tucker was the first to get on social media to announce that four different styles of the famous Nike trainers would be available before the basketball star donned a reverse swoosh MacAttack trainers at the Miami Grand Prix.

McEnroe and rapper Travis Scott then released the next instalment in a short teaser video to mark the comeback of the MacAttacks. In the trailer, the pair pose in several close-up shots to mimic preparation for a tennis rally in the famous light smoke grey trainers before Scott then gets in position to produce a fake backhand stroke.

Originally, Nike brought the first-ever version of MacAttack trainers to the market in 1984, when McEnroe was at the peak of his ATP career. Since then, some smaller-scale versions of the trainer have been released, but this most recent campaign is the most significant and high-profile in recent years.

The re-launch of the MacAttack OG colourway sneakers is expected to take place on June 23. However, the different styles showcased by Tucker earlier this year are expected to be released at a later date.

Later this year, McEnroe will get the chance to don his revamped Nike-branded shoes as he prepares to reignite his long-standing rivalry with Bjorn Borg at the 2023 Laver Cup. The two tennis greats will lead their respective teams at the competition after the pair first did so back in 2017.
