Stefanos Tsitsipas suffered a shock exit at the US Open caused by mood swings that were prevalent for a while over the summer.
Tsitsipas has played another very solid season as the Greek player had a mixture of good and bad results. It's fairly standard for him but his summer hasn't been that good as the US Open finished with an early exit that he called one of his worst performances.
“I would call them emotional roller coasters. Starting off with the US Open, which was probably one of the worst performances so far of my career" admitted Tsitrsipas in a new interview adding:
"That particular match. I didn’t feel like myself at all on the court that day."
After several difficult weeks of tennis, Tsitsipas centred himself in Astana making it to the final but losing to Djokovic. In further talks with Swedish SVT in Stockholm, he said that things are much better now:
"The last couple of weeks have been great, it’s been a big transformation in terms of my psychological state. In terms of my love for the game as well. I’ve been much more in love with what I do. I feel much more connected with it."
It's crucial to feel that way for Tsitispas because it's tied to what he does for a living: "I feel much more
happy to be out there on court and working every single day which is
extremely important for me because this is what I do for a living. I really like the state of mind that I am at currently"
