With Wimbledon getting closer by the day, predictions are rife in the tennis world over possible favorites. For Lleyton Hewitt, one that everyone should be watching out for is compatriot Nick Kyrgios.
Speed, heavy serving, raw talent, a born entertainer, and the ability to pull off shocks on the big stages when it matters most are just some of the reasons why one would be foolish to ever overlook an in-form Nick Kyrgios when the Wimbledon Championships come round.
This is exactly what the tournament's 2002 champion, Lleyton Hewitt, is keen to stress. With Kyrgios going into the tournament unseeded, it is possible that he could be coming up against a big name and title favorite right from the get-go
While Kyrgios may be thinking this is a disadvantage for him, having the possibility to meet the likes of Novak Djokovic, Rada Nadal, Matteo Berrettini, or even fan-favorite Andy Murray in the opening rounds, Hewitt has taken the opposite stance.
The retired legend of the game has thought of it from those players' point of view, explaining how coming up against Kyrgios would be a nightmare for anyone in the first or second round.
"On his day he can match it with the best guys in the world, particularly on hard courts or grass. Anyone that can win so many easy service games like Nick, he’s one of the best spot servers on tour, so he’s going to be awfully hard to break."— <br>
"A lot’s still going to depend on the draw but he’s definitely going to be the hardest floater along with Andy Murray. There’s certain players that could really wreak havoc."
Only time will tell what the man from Down Under will be able to produce this time round. Whether it will emulate the success he had against a certain Rafael Nadal on Centre Court or not remains in question, but he will always be a tough obstacle that no one will want to cross on their way to the final.
