Carlos Alcaraz is well aware of what awaits him in the next match at the 2024 Roland Garros as he's set to play Jannik Sinner, whom he called the best player in the world.
These two players have been the most impressive so far at Roland Garros. We've known that the Spaniard can be marvelous on clay, but many wondered whether Sinner could bring that machinery to the red dirt, and so far, he's been amazing.
The win over Grigor Dimitrov was impressive, similar to Alcaraz's expected win against Stefanos Tsitsipas. It's an interesting matchup, one in which either player can win, and the former world no. 1 is fully aware of that.
He beat Sinner in Indian Wells earlier this year, but it wasn't easy, and it won't be easy this time either, as his rival is the best player in the world according to the 21-year-old.
"It’s a really difficult challenge. He’s the best player in the world right now. The player who’s playing the best. We’ve played great matches. As you said the quarter-final in 2022.. but after that we’ve played high level great matches."
"I’m glad to have him on the tour. Thanks to him I push myself to be better and give my 100% every morning. To wake up in the morning and want to improve my game to try to beat him. I love watching him play."
Many fans love watching Sinner play, and many will enjoy watching them compete for a spot in the final. The last time they competed like this was at the 2022 US Open, where they put on a show in a thrilling five-setter that Alcaraz ended up winning.
"It’s gonna be difficult. I’m ready to take the challenge and put a show on this beautiful court. It’s the match everyone wants to watch. I’m sure he’s gonna show his best, myself as well. Let’s see who’s gonna win."
