Carlos Alcaraz has been incredibly successful since breaking out on the ATP Tour, and former legendary player Martina Navratilova could see him end up as the next Novak Djokovic with a bonus.

Alcaraz showed some decent promise early on in his tennis career, but his progression since then has been extremely rapid. The Spaniard is quickly ascending to the top, becoming one of the best players in the world.

Following his most recent win at the Madrid Open, Alcaraz is guaranteed to become world number 6, which isn’t something many saw coming earlier this year. The Madrid Open triumph was relatively unexpected but not undeserving.

After all, he became only the second player ever to defeat Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in back-to-back matches at an event, and that’s hugely impressive. Winning the Madrid Open also made him a two-time ATP Masters 1000 champion this year, as he won the Miami Open as well.

All of that is simply proof that his rise is real and not something of a fluke. There were those who were skeptical as to whether he could truly realize his potential as quickly as he did, but he’s doing it right now, and many are impressed.

Former player Martina Navratilova had a chance to closely watch Alcaraz in Madrid, and she was left impressed with what he’s been able to do. In fact, she even compared him to Novak Djokovic, admitting that he could be the next Djokovic, only with more power.

"Alcaraz can be the next Djokovic, but with more power."

That’s a scary thought for anybody because a player like Djokovic with more power sounds almost impossible to beat, but that’s the potential.

He’s not there yet and might never get there, but so far, he’s proven that he could get there. How hard he works and how lucky he gets with circumstances he can’t control, like injuries, will ultimately determine what his peak ends up being.
