Casper Ruud got double-bageled only once in his tennis career, and now he has finally avenged that loss.
In 2017, then 18-year-old Norwegian suffered the most lop-sided loss of his tennis career when Marton Fucsovics outplayed him 6-0, 6-0 at an ATP Challenger tournament in Budapest.
Seven years later, the two met again, and it was clear that Ruud would be motivated for this match. He was clearly motivated, and it showed during the match, as he did his best to avenge the loss.
Ruud won the match 6-3, 6-2, and after the match, he reminded everyone that he was well aware of his previous loss, as he mentioned the 0-6, 0-6 loss during his interview after the match.
"I've seen Marton play better, definitely I've felt Marton play better, because the last time we played I lost 6-0 6-0 to him, double bagel."
The Norwegian was thinking about the revenge, and he was happy to get it, but he was still sad for his opponent, who was clearly struggling with an injury throughout their match at the ATP 250 tournament in Estoril.
"It's some years ago now but happy to get my revenge. A bit unfortunate for him, struggling a bit physically [toward the end of the match]. But for me it's another good match on the clay in Estoril."
As a result, the top seed didn't have to spend a lot of time on the tennis court, and that will help him in the remainder of the tournament in an attempt to defend his title.
In the semi-final of the tournament, he will play against Pedro Martinez from Spain, who will try to stop the Norwegian, who will have extra energy in the match.
"Moving on to the semi-finals without having to spend three hours on court is fantastic. I will have extra energy and time to recover for tomorrow."
