Holger Rune still wants to play at the 2023 ATP Finals despite struggling with his form lately.
The young Danish player had a great start to the 2023 season. He played in the fourth round at the Australian Open. Then, he reached the Montpellier Open and the Mexican Open semi-finals.
After that, Rune played in the final of the Monte-Carlo Masters, and he won the title in Munich. The Dane also played in the final at the Italian Open in Rome, and he reached the French Open quarter-finals.
His success continued also after that. Rune reached the semi-finals at the Queen's Club, and he made it to the quarter-finals at Wimbledon. But after that, he started massively struggling.
At one point, Rune was on a seven-match losing streak, which he stopped only recently. But despite his enormous struggles, Rune didn't stop thinking about a spot at the 2023 ATP Finals in Turin.
He's currently ranked 10th in the 2023 ATP Race. Since the Top 8 players make it to the year-end tournament, the Dane is relatively close to securing a spot in Turin. Recently, Rune talked about his goals on the ATP Tennis Podcast, admitting that he still wants to play at the ATP Finals.
"Firstly my mind is to get back to my level and from there start improving again. It would be great to say that after a good, and then not a good year, to at least say that I finished in Turin."
"Like always, it's stil to be the best in the world. I'll just try to do everything as good, so I give myself a good chance this year."
Rune is one of the players who will compete for the final spots at the 2023 ATP Finals. He will compete at the Stockholm Open and also the Paris Masters. He will be hoping for some success at these indoor tournaments, as that could secure him a spot in Turin.
