Toni Nadal has spent the majority of his tennis career mentoring his nephew Rafael Nadal through some of his most memorable moments.

Toni has been tutoring Felix Auger-Aliassime since last year, and Rafael Nadal and the young Canadian met for the first time in an official match at the 2022 Roland Garros. Throughout the tournament, the elder Nadal sat in both players' boxes. Eventually, the experienced Spaniard prevailed in five sets, but Auger-Aliassime showed that he improved on the red clay.

Prior to their meeting, Rafael Nadal said: "For me it's very simple. Toni is my uncle. I don't think he will want me to lose. But he is a professional and he is working with another player. Don't know if he will be in his box and I don't care. It's not a story at all for me."

A couple of days later, after the Spaniard triumphed, Toni Nadal admitted: "Felix is Felix, but my nephew is my nephew. I wanted him to win. For us this tournament will always be special."
