Djokovic Seemingly Confirms Indian Wells Participation After Years Of Absence

Novak Djokovic hasn't played in Indian Wells since 2019, but it seems that he's going to play in 2024, as he seemingly confirmed his participation.

The Serbian is a five-time Indian Wells champion, even though the last trophy he won was back in 2016. It was the third consecutive title in Indian Wells he had won back then, but he has struggled to get past the fourth round since.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion has missed out on three editions of the tournament since 2019, and that's a long time away from one of the biggest ATP Masters 1000 events in the calendar, one that players popularly call the fifth Grand Slam.

This year, he'll be quite motivated to go back there after the way the 2024 started for Djokovic. Missing out on the 2024 Australian Open trophy was probably not on his bingo card, so expect a motivated Djokovic in Indian Wells.

Initially, there was discussion about whether the 36-year-old would make his way to the United States for the Sunshine Double, as he's now enjoying some time with his family, but the most recent moves suggest that he will.

Djokovic has a website which provides a lot of interesting information on it. One of those things is his calendar and the upcoming tournament that he's going to play, which, per his website, is the Indian Wells Open.

Obviously, the event is weeks away, set to start on March 6th, and there is no official confirmation or entry list out yet, but the fact that Djokovic indicated that he wants to play in Indian Wells on his website should mean that he will indeed make his way to the United States.

The website is rarely wrong, though sometimes it includes events that don't end up in the final calendar, as everything in a tennis player's life is pretty fluid.
