Having worked closely with Novak Djokovic in recent years, Goran Ivanisevic knows him better than most. He was full of praise for the Serb when he spoke recently.

It is clearly a partnership in tennis that just works. Djokovic continued along the same vein when Ivanisevic joined his camp as smoothly as if nothing had changed.

Even when Marian Vajda left his set-up, 'Nole' carried on winning, showing the stability Ivanisevic brought to the Serbian great. Despite not necessarily needing a tactician or someone to help improve his technique, the role of the coach in Djokovic's camp is more of a managerial one.

This good relationship, together with the fact that they are together for weeks on end throughout the tennis season, means that Ivanisevic knows Djokovic better than a lot of people. Resultingly, he was keen to speak about his experiences with one of the greatest of all time.

"It's not always easy to be Novak Djokovic's manager. We are talking about a great champion, who demands the best from himself and from those around him. For example, in training he can go completely insane due to a wrong shot."

Ivanisevic continued to explain about how they ended up finding the winning formula, realizing that it was sometimes best not to say anything and let his player vent.

"He is able to change his mood at any time. It took some time to find the right balance. At first I was very shy and didn't know how to handle various situations. As time went on, I realised that sometimes it's best to just say nothing and let it vent."

United by one fundamental link - culture - the two naturally get on better than he may do with any other coach. Ivanisevic spoke about how much this means to him.

"Our relationship is solid due to the fact that we speak the same language and have the same Slavic culture. It is an honour and a pleasure to be his coach."
