Daniil Medvedev might have lost the Australian Open final, but he's already looking ahead to the grass season, signing up for his first ATP event of the grass season.
The Russian had a really good start to the 2024 season. He skipped over all the preparation events before the Australian Open but still played a wonderful event to make it to the final.
He was up 2-0 in the final, but ultimately lost energy as the match went on, allowing Jannik Sinner to win his maiden Grand Slam final. It was a very disappointing loss for Medvedev, but he's already looking ahead to the grass season, signing up for the 2024 Libema Open in Den Bosch, where he played in the 2022 final.
Medvedev has played in Den Bosch in the past two years, opting for that event instead of the other one in that week. It was an interesting switch for the Russian, but he enjoyed his experience in 2022 and decided to come back in 2023.
Both editions ended in heartbreak for the Russian as he was stunned by native player Tim van Rijthoven in the 2022 final, while Adrian Mannarino bested him in the second round last year.
Despite all of that, Medvedev already signed up to come back in 2024, slowly enjoying the experience in the Dutch city.
The announcement of his comeback was accompanied by a short statement by Medvedev where he confirmed that he just likes being and playing there. For him, it's the perfect way to start the grass season.
"I am looking forward to being in ‘s-Hertogenbosch again. It’s a nice start to the grass season and it’s a nice tournament to play."
The event runs in June from the 10th to the 16th, and it will be once again a perfect start of the grass-court season.
