After his stunning run at the last Grand Slam of the season, Casper Ruud climbed to the second place of the ATP Rankings.

Since playing the US Open final, the young Norwegian played one Davis Cup match and also one match at a Laver Cup, where he defeated Jack Sock. But at the 2022 Korea Open in Seoul it was a first ATP-level match for Casper Ruud as world number 2.

During the Laver Cup, Ruud had a chance to be coached by likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray and he surely wanted to use that experience in his second round match against Nicolas Jarry at the 2022 Korea Open in Seoul.

Everything went well for the Norwegian at the beginning as he got two quick breaks to get a 4-0 lead in the first set. He then kept his cool on his service games to win the first set 6-2 in just 30 minutes.

World no. 2 was looking to end the match quickly in the second set and he also had 2 break points to get the needed advantage. However, he couldn't use those as Jarry stepped up his game and got a break himself. After hitting a total of 8 aces in the second set, world number 111 won 6-3 and the match was about to be decided in the third set.

Yet, there weren't many chances for the Chilean as Ruud used all of his experience that he gained in 2022 to prevail in the match and win it 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to set up a quarterfinal clash with Yoshihito Nishioka.
