Carlos Alcaraz vs Jack Draper: 2024 Cinch Championships - Preview & Prediction

by Zachary Wimer

Carlos Alcaraz will face native player Jack Draper at the 2024 Cinch Championships, which will be very challenging for him.

Draper just had the highlight of his career by lifting a trophy at the Stuttgart Open. He capped off an insane week by beating grass specialist Matteo Berrettini in three sets, and now he hopes to continue that at the ATP 500 tournament at the Queen's Club.

He played some special tennis in the past few times he played in London, making the quarter-final in 2021 and the second round in 2022. Alcaraz started his 2024 Queen's campaign with a win as well, even though he nearly dropped the second set before rallying to keep it in two, but he's the defending champion.

He won this event last year, so he certainly knows how to play well on these courts. Both are pretty decent grass players, but Draper is far more natural and will be soaring with confidence after winning in Stuttgart.

Head-to-head:

The two have played twice so far, and Alcaraz has won both matches, even though the second win came by retirement. It's an interesting matchup because the Brit can hurt the world no. 2 player.

He has a good serve and moves really well on grass, which makes him tricky to play. In fact, if he were to beat the Spaniard on one surface, it'd likely be grass because the other two hard-court matches went Alcaraz's way.

The Spaniard is still a bit rusty on grass, and he's likely to face some trouble in this match. His return will be crucial because if he can't pressure Draper's serve, he'll be in a lot of trouble.

Prediction:

Overall I do think Draper will create some pressure but I expect Alcaraz to find a solution and win.

Prediction: Carlos Alcaraz to win in three sets.
