Carlos Alcaraz left many tennis fans uncertain about his last months on the ATP Tour in 2023, but he shed light on the upcoming tournaments in a recent social media post.
After failing to defend his US Open title, and losing the world no. 1 spot, the young Spaniard had a very interesting Asian swing, losing quite early both in Beijing and also Shanghai.
Of course, semifinals and round of 16 are not the worst results, and the 20-year-old won a couple of matches at both events, but with his status, many expect him to win every tournament that he enters.
And after a not-so-successful Asian swing, another surprising news came from Alcaraz, as he announced that he wouldn't be competing at the 2023 Swiss Indoors in Basel.
The Spaniard then provided an update to fans that didn't provide much clarity, but now, much happier news came from the world no. 2. In his most recent social media announcement, Alcaraz said that he will compete at the 2023 Paris Masters and the 2023 ATP Finals
"I have good news! I am feeling better every day and I will play Paris-Bercy and be in Turin for the ATP Finals! Excited to finish the year on a high!"
He'll most likely be the second seed at both events, with Novak Djokovic getting a major boost in the world no. 1 race after his Basel withdrawal. The no. 1 race is one of the many storylines that fans follow at the end of the season, and this year, we'll get to know the year-end no one either in Paris or in Turin.
The 2023 Paris Masters will be held from October 30th to November 5th in Paris-Bercy, in France, while the 2023 ATP Finals will be held in Turin, Italy, from November 12th to 19th. The last two tournaments of the season will be the Davis Cup Finals, which the Spaniard won't play as his country didn't qualify, and the Next Gen ATP Finals in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
