Carlos Alcaraz is nearing a return to the World No. 1 rank, and former legendary player Bjorn Borg predicts him to stay there for many years.
The Spaniard will not make a return to the top spot after this week, even if he wins the title in Madrid, as he will trail Novak Djokovic by a small amount. He is, however, likely to make a return to the top spot after the Italian Open in Rome, as he didn't play the tournament last year, and Djokovic won the event.
Borg spoke to Eurosport about Alcaraz, claiming that the Spaniard will stay at the top spot in the rankings for many years to come, as he's simply been amazing, with very few players showing themselves capable of beating him.
"After this week he’s going to be No. 1 in the world, and I think he’s going to be staying there for many years. The way he plays, the way he moves, I like the whole game. No weaknesses."
This is not the first time Alcaraz has been called a complete player, as several others have made those claims in the past. Rick Macci called him the most complete player recently.
Andy Roddick also recently called Alcaraz a more complete player than Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal at 19, which was another massive praise for the youngster. Borg watched him play against Borna Coric, and he was very impressed.
"This was a semi-final today, I think he has a good chance to win the final. But to watch this guy play is unbelievable, I’m very impressed."
Alcaraz is the favorite to win the event in Madrid because he's been so good so far, and it would be a very good way to celebrate his 20th birthday.
