Alexander Zverev saves a match point to win against Baez at Roland Garros

Alexander Zverev was down 0-2 in sets and had to save a match point in the decider to win against Sebastian Baez 2-6 4-6 6-1 6-2 7-5.

Alexander Zverev opened this match in a shocking fashion being completely out of rhythm and struggling to match the intensity and energy that Baez brought to the court. The Argentine did not waste any time jumping out o an early lead. Baze played pretty well overall but Zverev was terrible hitting only 3 winners in the opening set while commiting 9 errors.

It was 6-2 for Baez and the 2nd set opened with a 4-0 lead for the Argentine. Zverev barely escape a bagel by saving a couple of break points to make it 1-4 but he started playing much more aggressive after that. It worked and he pulled one break back but Baez was able to hold on to the lead finishing it off with 6-4. It proved to Zverev that the momentum was shifting and indeed it did.

The German smashed Baez in the 3rd set 6-1 finally showing some good tennis. Zverev served much better and it gave him chances to attack with Baez not handling it that well. The 4th set was quite similar as Zverev jumped out to an early lead and held it after that. Baez took a step back giving up on the set that Zverev won with 6-2.

The final set featured quite a battle between the players because they both went all out. At 3-2, Baez crawled his way to a break point and he was able to use it with a superb forehand attack on Zverev's backhand. Zverev broke back with a superb game hitting a couple of incredible winners. Zverev sad a match point at 4-5 and then broke for the 6-5 lead. He then finished it off with 7-5.
