Alcaraz & Sinner Both Travel To Roland Garros After Successful Practice Sessions

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner both missed the Italian Open due to injuries, but both have seemingly recovered and will play in Roland Garros.

This upcoming Roland Garros has the potential to be iconic, but it won't be unless both Sinner and Alcaraz play at the event. Just a week ago, the news of Sinner possibly missing Roland Garros seemed to be very possible, so his participation in Paris certainly wasn't a given.

The Italian suffered a severe hip injury in Madrid, forcing him to withdraw from the Italian Open. Up until days ago, there were rumblings that he might miss Roland Garros because of it; however, according to reports in Italy, the Italian practiced really well and will actually travel to Paris.

Sky Sports broke the news about his travel plans to Paris, and the practice schedule only confirms that, as the Italian should practice on the Court Philippe-Chatrier on Wednesday, May 22nd, 2024, from 12:30 pm. local time with Kei Nishikori.

Alcaraz is in a similar situation. He's been dealing with injuries since the start of the clay season and, like the Italian player, he also missed the Italian Open. Reports from Spain, however, indicate that the Spanish player also had a really good week of practice and traveled to France for Roland Garros.

If he's fully healthy and playing his best tennis, he's arguably the top candidate to win a trophy. Obviously, we don't know the state of either player and just because they're traveling doesn't mean they're fully healthy.

They might just be healthy enough to play, especially Sinner, whose injury is by far more complicated. Alcaraz will also hold a practice session at the Court Philippe-Chatrier on Wednesday, May 22nd, 2024, but the Spanish player will train in the evening from 5 pm. local time, with Luca Van Assche from France.
