Carlos Alcaraz is one of the most amazing tennis players we've seen emerge in recent years, and the milestones he has achieved so far in his career prove that.
The list of things he has achieved in his still somewhat young career is incredible. He's still only 21 years old, but even now he's up to four Grand Slams after winning the Roland Garros and Wimbledon earlier this year. He is also the youngest world number one we've ever had. He's also just one of the most exciting tennis players we've ever seen.
Those are the words of Mats Wilander, who is a huge fan of Alcaraz. Other fans include Novak Djokovic, who was very glad that Alcaraz emerged because now he knows that tennis is in good hands. The list of people who are huge fans of what he's been able to do is just too large, but it shows that he's truly special.
Another thing that's capable of doing that is just the fact that he recorded his 200th career win today at the China Open. To put that into perspective, we cherish players who get to 500 career wins as players to remember fondly, which shows that it's not really that easy. Alcaraz being able to get to nearly half of that before even turning 22 is incredible.
It was a win in style over Tallon Griekspoor as the Spaniard left no room for any wonder as to who would win the match. After the match, he was asked by the media about it, and he was very happy to get to that number, but obviously, the goal is to get to many more in the future.
"It was a great achievement, getting my 200th wins on the ATP Tour. I always try and wants to win every match that I played. Yeah, just two years and a half, more or less, being in the tour, playing the tour, having my 200th wins is great for me. I just want to keep going, to keep getting more and more wins."
We have some sporting legends in the stands watching Alcaraz play, as Chinese gold medalist Fan Zhengdong was there to witness his match. Alcaraz also touched upon that, noting that it was great having such a guest watching his match. He hopes it was a good watch and overall just concluded with positive sentiments after a very good day for him.
"Obviously a special guest in China, getting the gold medalist, great having him here. I hope he enjoyed my match. Yeah, it was a great day for me."
The Spaniard will look to keep that run in Beijing going as he wants to win the trophy. He's been able to find his best tennis again at the Laver Cup and kept up the solid play in Beijing as well. A matchup with Jannik Sinner is on the cards, as the Italian has looked solid as well and is the number one seed here.
They can only meet in the final, and that would be an epic final if it comes to pass.
