Comparing Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner to Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer is something that has been done before. Now, also the 19-year-old Spaniard said that he thinks their rivalry can be similar.
Nadal and Federer enjoyed one of the most epic rivalries in the history of the sport. The two met a total of 40 times, with Nadal winning 24 of those matches and the Swiss Maestro triumphing 16 times.
At the moment, there seems to be a similar rivalry growing on the ATP Tour. Alcaraz and Sinner might be two youngsters, but their matches are incredibly entertaining.
Previously, Juan Martin Del Potro drew similarities between the youngsters and two players who lifted a total of 42 Grand Slam titles in their careers. After their sensational match at this year's US Open, the Argentinian said he was fascinated by the youngsters' level.
"I am fascinated with the level of tennis of these boys. It will be the Federer-Nadal of the next few years."
Now, Alcaraz also spoke about his rivalry with Sinner and admitted that there's a lot of respect and admiration between them. Therefore, he also compared their relationship to the one between the Spanish King of Clay and the Swiss Maestro.
"[Being compared to the big three] isn't a pressure. I enjoy playing tennis, and when I enjoy it, the results come. I often smile at tense moments in games, and being on the court gives me enjoyment. I don't know how I'll compare to them, they've been here for 20 years, they've won everything and I'm only just starting."
