Nick Kyrgios won't be able to compete at the 2023 Wimbledon as an injury forced him out of the competition.

The last year's finalist has been battling with injuries throughout the 2023 season, playing only one match on the ATP Tour over the past nine months. During the pre-tournament press conference, Kyrgios admitted that there were still some question marks, but his withdrawal was not expected.

On Day 1 of the competition, Kyrgios was supposed to take on David Goffin, and while he was ready for the challenge, his body wasn't after he was forced to withdraw from the 2023 Halle Open and the 2023 Mallorca Championships.

In the statement, the Australian revealed that it isn't the knee that is troubling him ahead of the 2023 Wimbledon but his wrist. When the 28-year-old arrived in Mallorca to hit the practice courts, he started feeling the pain.

"I'm really sad to say that I have to withdraw from Wimbledon this year. I tried my hardest to be ready after my surgery and to be able to step on the Wimbledon courts again. During my comeback, I experienced some pain in my wrist during Mallorca."

As a precaution, Kyrgios has decided to get his wrist scanned, and the results were disappointing for the 2022 Wimbledon finalist. His ligament was torn, making it impossible for him to compete in the All England Club this year.

"As a precaution I had it scanned and it came back showing a torn ligament in my wrist. I tried everything to be able to play and I am disappointed to say that I just didn’t have enough time to manage it before Wimbledon. I’ll be back, and as always, I appreciate the support from all my fans."

Replacing the Australian in the main draw is Fabian Marozsan from Hungary. Only recently, the Hungarian stunned Carlos Alcaraz, and now he gets another shot to compete on the biggest stage.
