After competing at the ATP 1000 event in Montreal, players move to Cincinnati for another Masters event player from August 14th until 21st.
The tournament will begin already on Sunday and in 2022 it will be played without a defending champion, Alexander Zverev who is not featured in a draw due to an injury. 21-time Grand Slam champion, Novak Djokovic also withdrew from the event and so the last champion from Cincinnati is 2019 winner, Daniil Medvedev.
The Russian will be also the first-seeded at the Cincinnati Masters and so he can enjoy a BYE in the first round, same as other 7 players that made it among Top 8 seeds. In the second round of the tournament, Daniil Medvedev will play against the winner of the match between Botic van de Zanschulp and Maxime Cressy.
Rafael Nadal, who previously withdrew from the tournament in Montreal, is the second-seeded in Cincinnati and he will begin his tournament against Borna Coric or a qualifier. Carlos Alcaraz will hope to achieve better result in Cincinnati than he did in Canada and the third-seeded Spaniard will meet Nikoloz Basilashvili or Mackenzie McDonald.
The fourth-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas also lost his first match in Montreal and so he will hope that he can make a better start against Filip Krajinovic or Daniel Evans. Casper Ruud is one of the semifinalists in Canada and he will need to prepare for the Cincinnati Masters in a short time as he will start against home wild-card Ben Shelton or one of the qualifiers.
Last years finalist, Andrey Rublev will hope to defend some of his points this year and he is also one of the players with a BYE in the first round so the Russian will meet the winner of the match between Albert Ramos-Vinolas and one of the qualifiers.
Despite being visibly injured in his quarterfinal match in Montreal, Nick Kyrgios is also in the draw and the Australian should begin against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and he can face the eleventh-seeded Taylor Fritz or his first-round opponent from Montreal, Sebastian Baez in the second round.
