The United States will play in the Final Four of the inaugural United Cup after beating Great Britain in the City Final in Sydney.
Team USA started well already in the round-robin stage of the tournament. They were one of the teams competing in Sydney's Ken Rosewall Arena in Group C, and in their first tie, they took on the Czech Republic.
Jessica Pegula's loss to Petra Kvitova was the only loss that the American team recorded in the round-robin stage, as they beat the Czech Republic 4-1 and then also Germany 5-0 to secure the City Final.
In the city final, they took on Great Britain. The British team was the best in Group D, beating hosts Australia and then also Spain to top their group.
Although the British team did well in the round-robin stage, Team USA was just too strong for them in the City Final. The American team has an incredible depth, and in every match, they had a dangerous player, which wasn't the case for their opponents.
In the first match of the tie, Madison Keys took on Katie Swan, and even though the American player lost the opening set of the match, she rallied in the next two to win 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Taylor Fritz then took on probably the strongest player in the British team this week, Cameron Norrie. Norrie beat both Alex de Minaur and Rafael Nadal at the United Cup, and he also bested Fritz in a three-setter, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.
But Jessica Pegula stopped the British emerging comeback, as she totally dominated Harriet Dart, beating her 6-2, 6-0. But it was still only 2-1 for the United States at that point.
On top of that, Daniel Evans played a great match against Frances Tiafoe, but the American player erased a one-set deficit to win 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, and secure the spot in the Final Four for his country.
