Kyrgios Challenges Kasatkina's 'Money-Not-Priority' Stance in Saudi Discussions

Not all players agree on the involvement of Saudi Arabia in tennis, and Nick Kyrgios and Daria Kasatkina are prime examples.

After it was revealed that the ATP has been in talks with Saudi Arabia, and the WTA's CEO later confirmed similar talks, players soon started sharing their opinions about the country buying into the sport as it's a quite controversial topic.

Andy Murray was one of the players that said he wouldn't play in Saudi Arabia, but after the announcement, the Brit seemed to have taken a step back from his previous comments. On the other hand, leading players on the ATP & WTA Tours, Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek said that they are ready to play in the country.

But one player that celebrated the move probably the most was Nick Kyrgios. The Australian shared his delight on Twitter, and he was really happy about the fact that the athletes 'will get paid what they deserve'.

On the other hand, his colleague from the WTA Tour, Daria Kasatkina, wasn't so thrilled by the prospect of playing in the country. That's because of multiple reasons and laws present in the country that wouldn't make her life comfortable as a woman and as a homosexual.

"It's in the hands of the bigger people, unfortunately. So as I said, unfortunately now in the world money talks and take very big part. Also, as Nick Kyrgios said, he would be so happy to go there just for a big check. For me, money is not No. 1, No. 1 priority in this case, for sure."

Kyrgios noticed her comments on social media, and since he visited the country for the Diriyah Tennis Cup along with his girlfriend, he shared her viewpoint on how she felt in the country.

"My girlfriend felt fine there."

However, while that may possibly make Kasatkina feel good about one part of the equation, and that's woman rights, another one still remains to be questionable and that's the Russian's sexuality.

As of now, it still remains to be seen while the country and the events in it appear in the ATP and WTA calendars, or if possibly only one of the Tours will get involved. Then, we'll see if all players will participate or if there will be some names that will decide to skip the events in the country.
