Defending champion Iga Swiatek continued her journey in Paris with another dominant win against Marie Bouzkova.
Bouzkova is a pretty solid player capable of doing some great things on all surfaces. She can and knows how to play on clay, but none of that particularly matters against Swiatek, who is by far the best player on this surface.
She can be beaten on this surface, which nearly happened in the previous match against Naomi Osaka, but for the most part, the Polish player is stoppable when she gets rolling. An early break in this match certainly added to that.
She would also break for the 5-2 lead but then give that break back, finishing the first set 6-4. Bouzkova tried her best to keep the ball in play to force Swiatek to 'go for it'. The Polish player obviously took the bait and hit it well for the most part.
At times, Bouzkova also found some good shots, but you never had the feeling that she could seriously trouble the Polish player. Swiatek started the second set with an early break and then added another break for the 3-0 lead, which basically iced the match after 65 minutes. From there, it was a rather simple cruise to the finish line, as the defending champion looked as good as ever.
She dominated and was more sure of her game compared to the match against Osaka. We have to mention Bouzkova, who really didn't play that poorly. She put forward a good effort, but it was simply not enough, as Swiatek won 6-4, 6-2.
