Ons Jabeur will reach career-high third place in the WTA Rankings after winning the 2022 Berlin Open against injured Belinda Bencic.

It was a dominant performance once again by Ons Jabeur who was unstoppable at the 2022 Berlin Open. In the final, she faced Belinda Bencic who was forced to retire after 51 minutes when the scoreboard showed 6-3, 2-1.

When the Swiss player was forced to retire, Jabeur brought a few packs of ice and a cooler for her leg and was applauded for doing so. Bencic also appreciated her qualities after the match, when she said:

"I think [Jabeur] really deserves this title and she's playing great tennis at the moment. I played maybe one match too much. Four heavy three-setters maybe didn't help my legs to be steady today. But I'm really happy with this tournament, I'm really happy with my level, and sometimes this happens. It's kind of for sure a bittersweet moment."
