Teenage Talent Andreeva Moves Closer To Wimbledon Main Draw With Another Win

| by Evita Mueller

16-year-old Mirra Andreeva is only one match away from the main draw of Wimbledon following another beatdown.

The Russian is amazing. There is nothing you really need to add to that because what she's been doing this year at her age has been utterly impressive. Beating a player that was Top 20 at that time, who not long after that reached the Top 10, at age 15 speaks volumes but she followed it up with more great performances at Roland Garros.

She did lose to Coco Gauff but gave her plenty of trouble in the match forcing her to dig deep in order to win the match. Wimbledon was a question mark due to some visa issues but eventually, she did make her way to London and she's been amazing so far.

A really strong win in her first official match on grass was followed up with another superb performance. She faced Chloe Paquet, a solid player who never did anything of note on grass but still had far more experience than Andreeva.

Didn't matter at all as the super-talented Andreeva completely outplayed her taking only 60 minutes to do so. Yes, it was a match that lasted an hour precisely with only 15 games played. The Russian had no issues beating Pacquet and dominating the rallies in both sets. She lost only a handful of points on her first serve in the opening set but dropped a few more in the second set.

Overall it was a performance that solidifies Andreeva as a talent on all surface types as she's excellent on clay and hard courts as well. She won the match 6-2, 6-1, and one more win will see her participate in the main draw of the event where she'll certainly make some noise if she keeps playing well. All of this is also being documented by Netflix for the second season of Break Point next year.
