Iga Swiatek's historic title success at the Qatar Open cemented her place atop the women's world rankings for the 91st week.
Swiatek became the first woman to lift the Golden Falcon trophy in Doha on three occasions and the first WTA player since Serena Williams in 2015 to three-peat in a tournament. She defeated Elena Rybakina in straight sets in Saturday's highly entertaining final.
The Pole crossed the 10,000-point mark and increased her lead over Aryna Sabalenka, who took a leave of absence following her Australian Open win last month. Both players will compete simultaneously at this week's Dubai Championships.
Maria Sakkari exited the world's Top 10 after a modest start to 2024. She has lost three matches in a row and dips to 11th. Jelena Ostapenko, meanwhile, re-enters the Top 10 (up to a high of eighth). The rest of the Top 10 remained unchanged.
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova continued her resurgence. The Russian veteran climbed eight places to her best-ever ranking since undergoing knee surgery. She is ranked World No. 24 after reaching back-to-back semifinals at her last two tournaments.
But it is 34-year-old Victoria Azarenka who is now the oldest woman in the world's Top 30. The Belarusian rose four places to 27th. She was a quarterfinalist in Doha. The biggest mover in the world's Top 50 is former World No. 1 Karolina Pliskova.
The Czech deserves a lot of credit for working overtime. Shortly after winning her first title in four years in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, Pliskova traveled to Qatar and played her first-round match within 24 hours. Remarkably, she would reach the semifinals and had to pull out due to injury.
But it was worth the hassle because she soared 23 spots to be ranked World No. 36. Danielle Collins is looking for a strong finish to 2024 because it is her last season on tour. She rejoins the Top 50, settling at 46th. Poland's Magda Linette also re-entered the half-centurion club.
Former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin dropped ten places after losing five straight matches. She is ranked 56th. A month ago, she was on the cusp of a seeding spot in Melbourne.
Erika Andreeva makes her Top 100 debut after reaching the second round of the Qatar Open as a qualifier. She is the older sister of 16-year-old Mirra Andreeva. You can check on all the movers this week by visiting our dedicated rankings page.
